Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to the most common questions about car rental — renting, paying, driving, returning and insurance. If you can't find your answer, call 040 5555 530 or email info@rilease.fi.

1. Renting and picking up the car

Who can rent a car?+

The renter must hold a valid driving licence for the rented vehicle, be at least 18 years old and fit to drive. A credit card is required as security and credit history will be checked with the renter's permission. Payment defaults may affect the rental — with defaults, rental is possible against a refundable €600 deposit.

How do I book a car?+

The easiest way is online: pick the dates, vehicle class and pick-up point, and you'll receive a booking confirmation by email. You can also call us Mon–Fri 8–18 on 040 5555 530.

Is staff present at pick-up?+

Yes, our staff is always there before the rental starts. We go through the vehicle with you and answer any questions.

What is your cancellation policy?+

Bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 7 days before the rental starts. Later cancellations are handled case by case. See the rental terms for details.

What do unlimited kilometres mean?+

All our rentals include unlimited kilometres in Finland — you only pay for the time. No need to count the bends or worry about the odometer.

Can I rent on behalf of someone else?+

Always book in the name of the person who will pick up and drive the car. If you pay on someone else's behalf, clearly state who the actual driver is and make sure they meet the rental terms (age, licence, credit history).

How do I add an additional driver?+

Add the additional driver at booking or at the latest before pick-up. We need their name, date of birth and licence details. The additional driver must meet the same requirements as the main renter.

Do I get a receipt or invoice for accounting?+

Yes. The booking confirmation works as a receipt and includes everything needed for accounting. For companies we can issue a separate invoice — contact us before booking.

2. Payment

How do I pay for the rental?+

Payments are primarily handled at booking online via Visma Pay: online banking, Visa/Mastercard, MobilePay, Pivo and invoice/instalment options. If needed, payment can also be made on site by card. Companies can pay by invoice. We do not accept cash due to insurance terms.

Can I pay with company details and get an invoice?+

Yes. Enter the company details at booking and you'll get an invoice/receipt for accounting. Our e-invoicing address: 003710969018 (Maventa, operator 003723327487).

What happens if payment fails at booking?+

Bookings are not confirmed without successful payment. Check your card details and balance or try another method. We're happy to help — contact customer service.

Can I use a gift card or discount code?+

Yes. Enter the code in the dedicated field before payment. If the code doesn't work, message us before paying so the benefit can still be applied.

3. Driving

What if the car develops a technical fault, flat tyre or won't start?+

All our rentals include Fennia car insurance with 24/7 roadside assistance. Call Fennia Autoapu on 010 503 2001 for technical advice by phone, help on the spot or a tow to the nearest workshop. Available 24 hours, every day of the year.

What equipment is in the cars?+

Standard in every car: roadside assistance card, snow brush and parking disc. Also for rent: hand truck, cargo straps and a boot brush. Lost minor accessories are charged at €15, hand trucks €150.

Do I need to service the car during the rental?+

No — our staff regularly handles oil, tyre pressures and coolant. If you notice an issue, report it to customer service immediately.

Can I drive the rental car abroad?+

Yes, but you need a separate export permit, a Green Card and the technical part of the vehicle's registration certificate. Our staff will issue these — arrange in advance.

Can I park the rental in paid street parking?+

Yes — the rental car can be parked anywhere legal, just like your own. Pay parking as normal at the meter or via an app. Any fines remain the renter's responsibility.

Who is responsible for traffic fines and parking tickets?+

The renter is always responsible for traffic, parking and penalty fines incurred during the rental. We don't charge separate handling fees but pass the fines on to you for payment.

4. Returning the car

Why should I photograph the car at pick-up and return?+

Video/photo documentation is for your own protection: you can prove the condition the car was in when handed over and when returned. We recommend photographing the car from every angle before and after the rental and keeping the photos for a month afterwards.

Do I need to refuel before returning?+

Yes. The car is always returned with a full tank. For a car returned with less than full fuel, we charge the fuel plus a €50 penalty.

Can I return the car before the rental ends?+

You can return the car at any time within the booking.

What if I return the car late?+

Notify the office immediately if you're going to be late — the car is often already booked for the next customer. Less than 15 minutes late usually doesn't incur a charge. Over 15 minutes without notice incurs a €150 penalty.

Do I need to wash the car before returning?+

Normal dust and shoe marks are fine. If the car is left with rubbish, pet hair or is exceptionally dirty, we have to charge a cleaning fee. Rule of thumb: return the car in the same condition you received it.

5. Insurance and damages

How do I act in case of damage?+

Follow general guidance to avoid further damage: stop in a safe place, warn other traffic. Call the police if the accident involves other parties. Fill in a damage report and notify us immediately.

What insurance comes with the rental car?+

All our cars have Fennia liability insurance plus moose, fire, theft and collision cover. The renter's maximum liability is €1,600 per incident, reducible to €800 for €20.

Can I rent with a payment default mark?+

Yes — in that case we collect a refundable €600 deposit before the rental starts. The deposit is returned after the car has been inspected and refuelled with no damage.

What does the deductible reduction mean?+

Without the reduction you are liable for up to €1,600 per incident. For €20, liability drops to €800. You can choose the reduction at booking.

6. Special situations

Can pets travel with me?+

Yes, as long as the car is returned clean. We charge a cleaning fee for hair or smells. We recommend a protective cover or pet carrier.

Are child seats or hand trucks available?+

Yes — check availability at booking or contact customer service.

What if I leave belongings in the car?+

We inspect cars after return and report any items found. Contact us as soon as possible to arrange pick-up or postage.

Can I rent several cars at once?+

Yes. You can make separate bookings online or contact us directly — we'll tailor a suitable package.
